Indian Institute of Technology Patna is delighted to start industry demand driven new academic programs, in computer science and business management streams, keeping in mind the employability skills need of the industry, job market and prospective employers. The curriculum and course structure of each program is at par with the globally accepted credit framework with focus on “hands on training” and “transformative pedagogy” envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) implemented by the Government of India. Program structure is flexible, modular and suitable equally for both the regular students and working professionals. The two new modular UG programs in computer science and business management of 3-year duration, starting from academic year 2023-24, is open for eligible candidates desirous to build their career with cutting edge curricular framework in compliance NEP-2020 implemented across the country by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. The admission application is invited round the year for admission in July (Autumn) and January (Spring) semesters every year. As approved in NEP-2020 framework and adopted by the Senate of IIT Patna, the modular pathway leading to award of certificate, diploma and degree with desirable skill for employability at each level, under this hybrid UG program, can easily be understood as follows;

1. B. Sc.(Hons): Computer Science and Data Analytics (CSDA)
2. Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA)

The diversification of UG program with additional courses in demand by industry and postgraduate programs are likely to commence in near future.

Academic Programs:

The structure of the 3 year UG program aims to prepare professionals with an in-depth understanding of the concept, practices, standards and skills in competitive global job market. Computational skill, data analytics, business management process and analytics pertaining to financial technology (FinTech) comprising accounting and financial management practices hold important place and the most sought after skill in the job market. Keeping these requirements of the ever changing job market worldwide in mind, IIT Patna has designed a number of academic programs through hybrid mode of instruction aimed at imparting a rigorous training over a period of three years through lecture classes, hands on skill development through industry standard facilities (say for example; real time financial market practices in stock exchange, Bloomberg financial markets laboratory, financial market risk analysis simulation laboratory etc.), regular workshop training with case study analysis for problem solving, report writing practices, projects and industry expert guest lectures, online mentoring and group discussion followed by placement counselling.

IIT Patna is starting two UG programs, namely B.Sc. computer science and data analytics (CSDA) and bachelor of business administration(BBA), of 3 years’ duration from the academic year 2023-24. The curriculum, credit structure and syllabus of the two programs, designed in consultation with the stakeholder employers and industry experts, are at par with global standards in skill, core competency and employability and suit the need of emergent market demand in the IT sector, market research, financial institutions, business houses, insurance industry and many more.

The business management (BBA) program structure is aligned with curriculum framework of accepted professional qualifications regulatory boards such as ICAI, ICSI, NSE at national level and CIMA, ACCA, CPA at global level. A graduate with such qualifications are always the 1^st choice of recruiters worldwide, including Big 4 like E & Y, PwC, KPMG and Deloitte etc. The two academic programs are the first of its kind to be started at UG level by IIT Patna and unique in India at the most affordable and acceptable cost with a number of student benefit features.

The sole objective of starting 3 year undergraduate programs is to provide:

1. an alternative avenue of quality education of IIT to a larger section of school (10+2) pass outs, who are equally deserving but unable to get a seat in the 4-year B.Tech./BS program through JEE(Advanced) examination due to very limited number of seats.
2. an enabling option to working professional aspiring to upskill themselves to meet the emergent multi-tasking skills demands of the dynamic job market.
3. An option of concurrent learning channel for aspiring youth who could not get a branch of their choice and still wish to do so, i.e.; studying for 2 degrees (say; B.Tech. Materials Science through regular mode and B.Sc. Computer science & Data Analytics through Hybrid mode))
